I’m Lindsey. Veggie enthusiast, fan of bubbly, and mother to a mischievous pup, Kona. My mission for flavor & flora is to share how easy, flavorful, and satisfying eating a plant-based diet can be. I hope to inspire creative thinking around plant-based meals and encourage this style of cooking and eating in everyday life.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved the experience of food. Not just eating, but the creative aspect of using what I have on hand to create a dish, the social experience of cooking for friends, and even the adventure of grocery shopping at a local market. But, I love the eating part, too, of course! Food also fuels my body and mind to take on whatever each day throws at me, so eating well is important to me. I suspect that there are many of you out there like me: you love to eat and…you prefer not to feel like a sloth!
Also relevant to my eating style is that I adore animals. My dog, Kona, is one of my absolute best friends in the world. He has oh so much personality and brings joy and laughter to my life on a daily basis. I believe there really isn’t that much difference between him and a cow, pig, lamb, or chicken (etc. etc).
Over the years my interest in food, health, and my desire to live a friendly life towards animals has resulted in my focus on plant-based eating.
My recipes are simple, tasty, and satisfying. They can be made with generally available ingredients. And they are meat, dairy, and egg-free (but you won’t miss those things, I promise!). In many cases my recipes can be adapted to your tastes or what you have on hand, so feel free to experiment or adjust as you’d like. I also make an effort to suggest alternatives or indicate when it’s better you follow the proportions more closely .
I’m not a professionally trained chef, photographer, or writer. I’m doing this for fun and because I love sharing food experiences with others. I’m learning as I go and hope you’ll join me on this delicious journey!
